As
the Founder and President of ConsumerView Research, Allan brings over 25 years
of marketing management experience to the company. During
this time, he has been heavily involved in marketing research for a variety
of companies across many different industries. He is highly experienced
and well trained in all elements of qualitative research, including
planning, respondent recruiting, questionnaire development, moderating
/ interviewing, results analysis, report writing and management presentation.
His moderating skills are especially strong and versatile,
as he has worked extensively with a variety of different audiences / respondents
(young children, teens, adults, seniors, families, senior executives, etc). Importantly,
his research skills have been developed from the perspective
of both a client and a provider. In addition,
he has managed all aspects of marketing communications programs (including
strategic planning, advertising, public relations, promotion and packaging)
for several companies during his career.
In conjunction with ConsumerView, Allan is a Partner at The HansonMaslen Group, a global marketing
consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, marketing communications,
branding and business development. Previously, he served for 15 years as Managing Director of CRH & Associates, a consultancy that
spearheaded the emergence and growth of many new ventures and developed
/ implemented key projects for several large corporations – most
notably, IBM (consumer software exploration), The Bank of Louisville (business development plan), Horn Abbot / Hasbro (digital media
expansion plan for Trivial Pursuit game) and Monsanto (worldwide launch of major new technology to both the industrial
and consumer marketplace). Prior to consulting, Allan held senior marketing
management / sales positions with Crescent Foods, Hunt-Wesson Foods (Con-Agra) and Oscar Mayer. During his six years at Hunt-Wesson, he managed three
of the company’s leading brands, and as VP of Marketing for Crescent
Foods, he lead the complete overhaul and successful reintroduction of a “forgotten” brand
line.
Allan also has extensive experience with non-profit
organizations on a volunteer basis. He was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services to a four-year term on the National Advisory Board for Arthritis, Musculoskeletal
and Skin Diseases (a National Institutes of Health board that develops recommendations
for Congress). He also served as President of the National Psoriasis
Foundation, a 20,000-member organization located in Portland, OR.
Allan is a board member (and past VP Marketing / Brand Management) at the world-renowned Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle, and he serves on the steering committee and as a board member
at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA.
His education includes an MBA degree in Marketing
from Arizona State University and a BS degree in Communications from Northwestern
University. He
is a licensed pilot with land & sea ratings, and his other “outside” interests
include The Arts, distance swimming, skiing, sports public address
announcing, and travel.
